Join us for City Serve
City Serve is an annual opportunity for churches across Omaha and the surrounding communities to come together to unleash unprecedented love and compassion on our city. This year, City Serve will be a weeklong event beginning on Friday, September 19, and ending on Saturday, September 27. King of Kings will partner with Open Door Mission, American Red Cross, Care Corps LifeHouse, Project Pink’d, Disney Elementary School, and other organizations for serving opportunities throughout the week.

Assemble Healing Hearts Kits for patients starting breast cancer treatments.
Open Door Mission
9AM-3PM | 25 volunteer opportunities, all staff serve day

Serve alongside King of Kings staff as we clean and organize the Timberlake Outreach Center, assisting in the kitchen for lunch service, and other projects as deemed appropriate.
Heartland Hope Mission

Assist families in shopping for food at the Heartland Hope Mission food pantry. Stock shelves.
Cards of Encouragement & Cookies, Northwest Campus

Assemble hygiene kits for people who are experiencing homelessness. This project is for students (grades 6-12) only with walk-ins welcome. Support this project by donating supplies from this Amazon wish list.

Restock food pantry shelves and prepare the pantry for the upcoming food distribution.
Standing Bear Elementary School
9AM – 3PM | 20 Volunteer Opportunities
Outdoors, Ages 3+, Easy, Standing Bear Elementary School, 15860 Taylor Street, Omaha, NE
Assist with Standing Bear Elementary School’s annual Fun Run. Encourage kids, hand out water, and help along the route for the run.
American Red Cross Blood Drive
8AM-2PM | 4 volunteers to assist with check-in.
Indoors, Ages 16+, Easy to moderate, King of Kings Church, 11615 I Street, The Haven
Register to work the blood drive by checking in people for donations (4 volunteer positions). You can also donate blood through the American Red Cross to help maintain a sufficient blood supply and prevent shortages.

You can easily register for your favorite project online, click here to jump right in! If you want that awesome T-shirt, sign up by Sunday, September 14. No worries if you miss it; you can still join the fun, but T-shirts might be limited. Plus, some projects fill up fast, so don’t wait!

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The American Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors, and partners, is always there in times of need. We aspire to turn compassion into action so that, all people affected by disaster across the country and around the world receive care, shelter and hope; our communities are ready and prepared for disasters; everyone in our country has access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products; all members of our armed services and their families find support and comfort whenever needed; and in an emergency, there are always trained individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives.
Heartland Hope Mission
Heartland Hope Mission helps working poor families by providing them with some of life’s most basic staples including a week’s supply of food, clothing, hygiene items, SNAP assistance, community referrals, and job resources. Heartland Hope Mission is a faith based organization that also offers Bible studies and prayer.
Heart Ministry Center
The Heart Ministry Center programs guide people along a personal journey leading to individualized breakthroughs, permanent transformations, and dignified change by a way forward to people severely affected by poverty in the Omaha area. They offer a food distribution program, healthcare clinic, job placement program, and a laundromat to help bring change to the families, volunteers, supporters, and this community.
Omaha Fire and Police Departments
Omaha Police
Formed in 1857, the Omaha Police Department proudly serves the community of Omaha, NE. Omaha is the largest city in Nebraska, with an estimated 2013 population of over 434,000 and encompassing 130 square miles. We are a progressive police department made up of a diverse group of a thousand men and women, sworn and non-sworn, who strive to keep Omaha a safe, family-friendly city
Omaha Fire
The Omaha Fire Department is comprised of individuals filling roles in suppression who actively provide fire and EMS response, as well as individuals working in an administrative capacity to oversee fire suppression activities.
Open Door Mission
Open Door Mission offers more than 40 programs to break the cycles of homelessness and poverty. Their core values, Rescue, Redeem, Rebuild, and Restore guide their work through their Gospel Rescue Mission.
Project Pink'd
Project Pink’d, Inc provides tools, resources, and a strong network to strengthen and renew the mind, body, and spirit of breast cancer patients and survivors in Nebraska and Western Iowa. They have a vision for each survivor to thrive beyond their diagnosis, disease, and treatment to create a thriving and purposeful future as their families and communities become stronger.

Standing Bear Elementary School meets the needs of students in northwest Omaha. With over 500 students, Standing Bear is committed to creating a positive attitude for academic, social, and behavioral health for all students.
