The Lens of Love

Break the Ice

What’s a family tradition you had growing up that you’ll never forget?

Key Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:55-56

“Where, o death, is your victory? Where, o death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is in the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

  1. What do you feel after reading 1 Corinthians 15:55-56?
  2. Death clearly still has a sting; we see and experience the pain of grief. Why do you think Paul speaks here as if death is toothless and defeated?
  3. Read Romans 6:1-14. How do Paul’s words in this passage relate to the message in 1 Corinthians 15?
  4. Read 1 Corinthians 15:58. Do you ever feel your work is in vain? Why or why not?
  5. How can you remind yourself that, even when no one else notices your work, God is watching?
  6. What actions do you take to “stand firm” and “let nothing move you”?
  7. Read Hebrews 6:10. How does this verse support what Paul writes here to the Corinthians?
  8. Do you have to work Jesus into your daily life, or is He woven into your daily rhythms?
  9. Do you ever feel like your testimony isn’t good enough? Do you compare your testimony to others’?
  • Take some time to consider the moments God really showed up in your life. Think about moments both monumental and seemingly small.
