Meet Josephine Ngwira • Update from the Ottos

Hello to all of our King of Kings family, we all hope you all had a blessed Easter! He is RISEN!

We have had so much good happening these last two months. We rented a hall that will be the building in which we will be starting Cornerstone Christian Nursery School. We plan to open this September and have started hiring our staff for the school. There are of course a lot of things that need to be done before the school can be opened so please continue to pray for us and this project. We thank God that he has started this journey for us; it has been our heart to open a school.

We are coming into an election season next month for all positions of government. Please pray that it would be a peaceful and seamless process and without incident. Also, there is a city councilwoman that has been working with us and wants to help us build a school in the community. We would ask that you join us in praying that she would be re-elected and that God’s plan for his people in the community of Ndirande would be realized, for His glory!

It is a season of completion for three of the students in our College Sponsorship Program. The three girls that were studying Early Montessori Education have finished and will graduate this June. It is our desire that they would join the teaching staff for our Nursery school and in doing so allow them to use their education to brighten their future and also for their families. Please pray for them as they come to the end of this program, it is a time to rejoice but also a change of season for them.

As a family, we are still moving forward in our daughter Prisca’s adoption and are praying that God will bring it to completion so that we can make our plans to come visit the US. We are currently waiting for one document to be produced, we will then be given a court date. Please pray that this would all happen in God’s timing and that it would be expeditious. Thank you Jesus that you are bringing this to an end!

We are planning to come this summer as a family so please continue to pray we will find a place to stay for our time there. If you know of anyone with a house or cabin they would be willing to let us use please let us know. As always a huge thanks to you all and we appreciate all of your continued prayers and support!

Every month we want to highlight one of the students we work with and give you an opportunity to pray into their life. This month we’d like to introduce you to Josephine Ngwira. Check out her biography:

My name is Josephine Ngwira. I am 20 years old and the third born in a family of 4 kids consisting of two girls and two boys. My family resides in HHI mission in Blantyre city. The first born in my family is a boy who unintentionally dropped out of school due to financial problems some years back, then the second is also a boy named Quabaniso who is in 2ndyear at Chancellor College doing his Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences. Am the third born doing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery in 1styear at Kamuzu College of Nursing (KCN) and the last born is my sister Maureen who is in form 4 currently studying at Ndirande Hill Secondary School within the city.

During my secondary school education, my aunt sponsored my education at ST Bakhita Girls Secondary School in Balaka district. After completion of my secondary, she told my father that she could no longer manage to sponsor my school. I passed my MSCE exams and was selected to study Nursing and Midwifery at KCN. My father told me that he could not manage to sponsor both me and my brother in college so I was told to wait until he graduates so that only then I can go to school. The situation was hard for me, I couldn’t bear the pain of waiting for 3 more years staying at home doing nothing. During this circumstance, my mother and I prayed day and night for a miracle. Then we heard of A Lighted Path Organization. We approached the manager and lucky enough God answered our prayers and I was given a full scholarship covering my tuition fees and monthly expenses.

A Lighted Path Organization has helped me in times when I was helpless. Therefore am whole heartedly thankful to them for helping me to walk towards my future goals. I know without their intervention my life would have been a lot more different and unpleasant. I pray that God should shower them with overflowing blessings every day and give them a healthy life full of happiness so that they should help many more of other students who are unable to continue with their education due to financial problems.

In the meantime, am trying my best to perform better in my studies in Nursing and Midwifery until I graduate if all goes well, I would like to upgrade further with my education after attaining my degree in Nursing and Midwifery.  I would love to upgrade in the program of PUBLIC HEALTH which has a wide range in health issues. I surely would like to become an agent of change in other people’s lives by the will of God.

We are very thankful that Josephine and the other students you will meet are currently being sponsored to attend University.  There are, however, many more students from the Jacaranda School for Orphans who are waiting for their chance to further their education.  If you feel like you could sponsor one of these children, feel free to email us at theottosinafrica@gmail.com.

This opportunity is life-changing for these first-generation college students. When they graduate University and begin to earn an income for themselves, most students will use a portion of that income to help their younger siblings and family in the village where life is very hard. By investing in the education of one child, it is impacting generations to come after them.

These are the things that Josephine asks you to be praying for:

  1. Pray that He guides me and gives me the strength to work extra harder in my education to achieve my goals.
  2. Pray for continued support for others that need the support I needed to go to college.

Please continue to pray for this student, that she would remain focused and dedicated to achieving the goals that God has set forth in her heart.

With Love,

Trevor, Kasey, Victoria, Corbin, Penelope, Elliott, Jeremiah, Prisca, and Gabriel

Check back next month as we introduce you to another student supported by the Otto's ministry.
