WHAT WE BELIEVE AND TEACH

The Trinity

We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

The Deity and Lordship of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He is the promised Savior whose death atoned for the sins of the world.

He rose from the grave. Now He reigns from Heaven and will come again to Judge the living and the dead.

Salvation is by God’s Grace in Christ.

The sacrifice of Jesus Christ upon the cross was necessary to redeem fallen mankind from sin, Hell and Satan. Only in Christ’s redeeming work at the cross can sin be forgiven and eternal life secured.

Good works do not merit salvation. Salvation is the free gift of God to the world for Christ’s sake.

The Necessity of the New Birth

All men are sinners and are in need of God's forgiveness. The new birth gives spiritual life to the spiritually dead. It redeems a soul from hell, initiates a personal relationship with God and is simultaneous with the indwelling of God's Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.

Believer’s and Church Membership

A new birth transforms the individual. New priorities and new desires flow from the heart that is filled with the Holy Spirit. Born Again believers naturally seek out fellowship with our believers. The desire to engage in acts of service for God’s glory leads a believer to seek and find a church home.

Priesthood of the Believer

There is only one Savior between God and man, Jesus Christ. All persons are equal in grace before God. Everyone has direct access to God through prayer and are directly responsible to God for their actions.

Autonomy of the Local Church

The head of the church is Jesus Christ and the local church is independent of any outside control. The ministry of King of Kings is lay lead, under the counsel of Holy Scripture and relevant to our own unique circumstance.

Baptism and The Lord’s Supper are Sacraments of God.

Baptism is the renewal from sin through the washing of Water and the Word of God. The Lord’s Supper offers to the believer the Body and Blood of the Lord’s Real Presence.

Stewardship

God is the source of all blessings and is the owner of all things. Christians, in accordance with the Scripture, are to support the ongoing work of the local church and missions through their talents, tithes, and offerings of their time and prayers.

Evangelism of our community is the supreme task of Christ’s Church

Christ has commanded His church to make disciples of all nations. The personal witness of the believer to his neighbor is the basic form of evangelism the world has known. It is the responsibility of every Christian and church to spread the gospel of Christ.

The Bible

The Sole Authority and Supreme Standard for All Human Conduct, Creeds, Preaching and Christian Education is the Holy Bible. The Bible is God’s revelation to man. It is inspired and infallible in Christian doctrine. The Bible is the voice of Jesus and is read in Worship and read devotionally in private for spiritual edification.

KING OF KINGS IS A VISION BASED MINISTRY

What guides the day-to-day ministry at King of Kings?

The ministry of King of Kings is like a ship set to sail. A congregation launches its ship and sets sail relying on some type of compass. The church's sails can be trimmed for short sails as well as voyages that can run months and years. At King of Kings we rely on a Vision Based Ministry for our compass. Soliciting and codifying our member's vision for ministry is how King of Kings sets her short term and long term goals.

The ministry of King of Kings is thoroughly centered in the life and mission of Jesus Christ. This same dynamic spiritual center is shared by all true Christian churches. Yet King of Kings ministry is at the same time unique and fresh.

Ministry aims and goals do not come pre-packaged in a "How-To" box purchased off the shelf in the local Christian Bookstore. King of Kings isn't "borrowing" her vision for ministry from another congregation. We don't aspire to imitate anyone else. King of Kings vision for ministry says "God chooses our path and our shape. We don't imitate. We're not a church produced by a cookie-cutter. We simply want to be whatever God has determined for us to be."

In order to chart our path through the sea King of Kings practices a Vision Based Ministry.

Each year, in April, a Vision Summit Workshop is convened. Several weeks prior to the Summit a comprehensive ministry evaluation is shared with all who have expressed their interest in responding. There is a Spirit of prayer and the influence of a Christ-centered optimism that blesses the process of evaluation. Every area of King of Kings ministry is available for this kind of annual review. With the evaluation responses in hand, Pastor Miller facilitates a heart-to-heart conversation between people and their God. Out of this avenue of open dialogue, a vision for Christian ministry begins to find form and take shape. Dreams are shared. Passions are verbalized. Goals are set. Ministry teams are organized. Deadlines are etched on the pages of the calendar.

A Vision Based Ministry is the compass by which our course is charted, one year at a time.

At present, King of Kings stands at a half-way mark. At last April's Summit our dreams and passions gave birth to what we call YEAR ONE. A Vision Based Ministry is updated annually at a Vision Summit. In April of 2009 we will again convene the next Vision Summit. Out of the next heart-to-heart conversation with God, our forever family will birth YEAR TWO. Through a process of verbalizing our passions and sharing our dreams, a new compass will take form and shape.

MINISTRIES AND ORGANIZATION MODELS CAN CHANGE BUT OUR SPIRITUAL CORE REMAINS

The Christian church remains thoroughly rooted and centered in the life and death of Jesus Christ. King of Kings will always be a thoroughly Christian Church.

Our spiritual dynamic and our hope of eternal life will forever remain rooted in the person of Jesus Christ. He is the Savior promised of God and foretold by the Old Testament prophets. He is true man and true God. He
defeated Satan, lived a holy life, taught perfectly and won our salvation through His sinless self sacrifice at Calvary. He is the heartbeat of our soul and the love of our affections.

Our confession of faith echoes the revelation of Holy Scripture. The Bible is our guide for faith and doctrine. Our leaders are expected to model the faith proclaimed in God's Holy Word. They are expected to preach and teach the Scriptures. Our members are also expected to rely on the power and the comfort that issue forth out of a daily devotional reading of the Word.

Church policies can change. Staff can come and leave. Models for ministry may be modified and tweaked. Some goals should change. What will never change is King of Kings' promise to be a true Christian congregation.
